PROs (Performance Royalty Organisations)

We understand that you may want to maximise the opportunity of earning money from performance royalties.

If you are registered with a PRO, this is fine by us as long as your PRO does not prevent you/us from direct licensing. Our policy is that we expect broadcasters to complete cue sheets for TV, Radio and Film, but we do not expect our clients to pay PROs for use as music on-hold, in their corporate videos, at tradeshows etc. In this situation, we expect you to waive any PRO involvement and support us in this aspect.

We have not had many issues with PROs. In each instance, they have backed down when they know the music has been licensed directly from us with permission from the composer. The issue has typically been with music used whilst on hold or at a public trade show where a stand is using music as part of a video. In these scenarios, the composer would not have gained anything anyway because of the archaic way PROs monitor public performance of music.

You keep 100% of your PRO income from TV, Radio and Film and we expect the broadcaster to complete cue sheets.

AdRev & Content ID

If you are in a content ID system we must be able to release claims on your behalf. Alternatively, you must be able to clear music directly and in a timely manner if we get a dispute from a client who has licensed music from us.

For our own music, we use AdRev and have found their whitelisting process easy so far.

Many of our clients pay for a license so that they can monetize their video content. If you are unsure or with a content ID provider that will not release claims where music has been licensed, unfortunately, we cannot accept your music.
