What is Background Music?

Background music is a term used for music that is intended as a background to an event, production or venue. It aims to be unobtrusive so not to distract or divert the attention of the visitor or viewer. Many shops and websites use carefully selected background music to induce a feeling of calm and put the visitor in the mood for staying longer than intended.
