Submitting Your Music
Join as a Music Maker FAQ
Although we provide FAQ’s and offer our interpretation of the legal speak in the Music Maker T&C’s, this is for clarity only and is by no means legal advice. If you need legal advice on our T&C’s or any other copyright / royalty issue we suggest getting help from an independent law practitioner.
If I join the Music Library do I automatically become a member of the Composer Directory?
No. The two services run independently.
We are crrently not accepting new Composer Directory members.
Can I join if my music is on other websites and / or registered with royalty collecting societies?
You can join providing that none of your agreements with other websites and / or royalty collecting societies conflict with our terms and conditions .
What happens if there is more than one person involved in creating the music that I am submitting?
One person has to take responsibility for signing the agreement on behalf of all members involved. It is their responsibility to ensure that agreements are in place between all members of the party so that any income received is divided proportionately.
How much will you sell my music for?
We try to get the best price for your music. See pricing policy
How much will I make from my music?
You receive 50% of the sale price after VAT is deducted.
Is there a Composers login area?
Currently, there is not a composers login area. This will be considered for future development.
How will I know if I have made any sales?
Statements will be sent out once a composer starts making sales. This will be on a quarterly basis at the month end of February, May, August and November.
Although statements are sent out quarterly, please feel free to contact us at anytime for information about your sales / balance.
How will I get paid?
The Company’s preferred method of payment is via bank transer or PayPal eCheck. Upon receiving your sales statement, you can request payment of any money owed at anytime using this method.
We can pay you through other methods if necessary, but there may be an imposed threshold before payment can be made and possible charges payable by you depending on the method.
Can you explain section 4.3 of the T&C's regarding administration fees?
The administration fee mentioned in the terms and conditions is to cover any future company decision to introduce a fee for music submissions, which we would provide details of on the site prior to submission.
At this time, we are not charging for submitting music so you will not be asked to pay an administration fee.
Can explain how the vat works in section 7.2 of the T&C’s?
Vat is a tax of 17.5% that Media Music Now have to pay to the UK government.
When we work out the 50% we owe you from a sale we deduct this first.
For example
-
A track at £24.95 +vat = £29.32
-
We collect £24.95 and the government gets £4.37
-
Of our £24.95 we give you 50% which is £12.48
What does Section 7.5 of the Music Maker T&C’s refer to?
This section does not apply if you are not in the UK and / or are not Vat registered.
In the UK vat registered companies have to add 17.5% (vat) to sales. This 17.5% is a tax that we have to pay to the government. If you are based in the UK and are vat registered you have to invoice us also by adding 17.5% vat.
Once I have signed and returned the terms and conditions, do you send me a counter-signed version?
There is no legal reason for the company to counter sign and return contracts. Your signature on the terms and conditions makes it a legally binding agreement between both parties.
Onced you have sold licenses of my music, can you tell me who has licensed it and what it was used for?
We do record who has licensed your music, however, we can not divulge this information as it would be in breach of our user privacy policy and data protection license.
Providing users stay within the boundaries of our license agreement they do not have to specify their specific usage.
The only exception to this is if your music is licensed for TV, radio and cinematic film release, in which case, you may be requested to provide us with information regarding performance royalties.
Any Further Questions?
Due to the volume of enquiries, we need to hear your music before we can talk to you about inclusion to our library. If you are successful with our assessment panel, you then have the chance to ask us any questions you may have by phone or email.
