About Music Licensing
Music licensing is a very big and complex subject to cover, however, the basics are relatively simple. In short, music licensing is essential if you want to use music without getting into trouble.
There are many ways that you can license music and much to understand with regards to copyright (this is what makes it complicated).
The three main copyright areas you need to think about are: -
-
Synchronisation – What will the music be combined with? film, multi-media, website etc
-
Mechanical – How many duplications of the product and the music do you wish to make?
-
Performance – Is your product going to be accessible by the public or broadcast on TV?
Simply speaking, these are the three main areas you need to consider.
Royalty Free Music
This is a music licensing agreement that makes licensing inexpensive, quick and straightforward. The licensing term royalty free music varies from company to company.
Our royalty free music license covers all rights / royalties you need for our listed uses with the exception of TV, radio and cinematic film release. We have a separate policy on this, you can view it here.
