What is an Ident / Audio Logo?

An ident or audio logo is a short piece of music that can be combined with voice-over, sound effects or used on its own to identify a particular product, service, television / radio / podcast show.

It is usually custom written for an individual company or if purchased as stock music, a spoken message is added to it to differentiate from competitors or rival shows.
