Peter Jay, Composer and Song Writer
I am currently working as Head of Music in an inner city comprehensive school in Norwich.
In the 80’s and 90’s I played in a variety of bands, recording and performing around the UK (signed to Epic Records; touring with Level 42; Elvis Costello; Teardrop Explodes; in the studio with Steve Brown – Wham, The Cult; Owen Morris – Oasis; Steve Osborne – Happy Mondays, KT Tunstall) this kind of came to a halt when family responsibilities came along.
After a short spell away from serious music making I achieved a Bmus degree and teaching certificate and became a music teacher, which I love doing.
In my spare time I compose. I am putting together a collection of library music for a new company at the moment and have my music represented in America by Worldsound Productions Inc who have licensed my music to Muzak and Music Supervisor Inc.
I tend to compose in the styles of: ambient/atmospheric; ethnic; contemporary classical piano/percussive (minimalist – Steve Reich, John Cage etc); French (Amelie); chillout grooves (Rhodes piano/ Groove Armada); Dark Atmospheric soundtrack; quirky Tom Waits-ish.
I use mostly PC software Reason and Cubase and sometimes record with live instruments.

|
| French Waltz – Does what it says on the tin! A waltz with a French feel – accordions and jangly pianos etc. Think of Amelie and Paris! |
|
